EUROPEAN COPPER IN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS: MONKSTOWN SHORTLISTED

Bone O’Donnell architects’ recently competed copper clad addition & transformation of a 19th Century former Gate Lodge in Monkstown has been shortlisted in The European Copper in Architecture Awards in London.

“The European Copper in Architecture Awards is a biennial showcase celebrating architectural design of buildings incorporating copper or copper alloy cladding, roofing or other architectural elements. The expansion and development of these biennial awards over the last two decades mirrors a fundamental change in the use of copper on buildings, from a practical roof covering to a highly architectural material for many building elements – particularly facades – with endless opportunities for design.”

MONKSTOWN SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION AT RIAI IRISH ARCHITECTURE AWARDS

Our recently completed project, the extension and transformation of 19th Century former gate lodge in Monkstown, was selected for exhibition at the 2004 RIAI Irish Architecture Awards.

The works involved the complete refurbishment of the existing house and the addition of a monopitched copper clad extension, which connects to a west facing side garden, which was largely ignored by the existing house.

AAI AWARDS: MONKSTOWN SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION

Our Copper Clad Addition & Transformation Of A Former 19th Century Gate Lodge in Monkstown has been selected for exhibition in the 2003 Architectural Association of Ireland Awards.

The works involved the complete refurbishment of the existing gate lodge, however the focus of the intervention lay in the copper clad extension and its relationship with the existing house and garden.

RANELAGH SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION AT RIAI IRISH ARCHITECTURE AWARDS

Ranelagh has been selected for exhibition in the 2003 RIAI Irish Architecture Awards.

This project involved the refurbishment and extension of a red brick Victorian Terraced House.

The small glazed and timber clad extension wraps around the existing masonry wall of the existing rear return of the house and is turned onto the horizontal to form an external deck flush with the internal finished floor level.

AAI AWARDS: RANELAGH SELECTED FOR EXHIBITION

Our Refurbishment & Extension To A Victorian Terraced House, A Protected Structure in Ranelagh has been selected for exhibition in the 2003 Architectural Association of Ireland Awards.

This project involved the complete refurbishment of and extension to a two storey mid terraced redbrick Victorian dwelling. In particular the brief was to transform the dark and claustrophobic ground floor layout of the existing return, improve the connection to the south west facing rear garden and provide a distinct area for a growing family, which could be separated from the kitchen and remote from the more formal reception rooms in the main part of the house.
