IMAGE 5_LIVING

Refurbishment & Extension to a cottage in an Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) in Malahide is now complete.

As you can see we are … BUSY … taking photographs of the finished work!

The project consisted of the complete refurbishment and extension of an existing uninhabitable semi detached cottage, orientated North-South, in an Architectural Conservation area, to provide for a 2/3 bed dwelling with off street car parking.

More to follow . . .

SITE UPDATE: PALMERSTON ROAD

PAL 1

This project is for a lower ground floor extension and refurbishment of a two storey over garden level semi-detached redbrick Victorian dwelling on Palmerston Road.

The brief was to reconfigure and extend the existing garden level to create a bright open plan family area incorporating kitchen, dining & living spaces and to improve the connection of this level with both the main part of the house and the rear garden.

A new brickwork extension, opening out to the garden on all three sides and rooflit to allow light into the depth of the plan, contains the new kitchen and dining area and is connected to the existing rear wall of the house by a glazed link which allows the existing brickwork to the rear wall to remain visible internally.

Backgound to Simon Open Door taken from the RIAI website:

“Conceived by the RIAI and Simon Communities of Ireland in 2004, Simon Open Door is a simple yet fantastic scheme, benefitting both the Simon Communities of Ireland and members of the public. Anyone can sign up and, in return for a €50 donation, meet with a registered architect and get ideas for house extensions, new builds or making a house more energy efficient. Consultations take place in architects’ offices nationwide and in the RIAI offices on Merrion Square.”

Amanda Bone has no available time slots for consultations remaining for this year’s Simon Open Door, but there are still some spaces available with other architects, see www.simonopendoor.ie, for information and booking details.

SNEAK PEAK: BRAY ON SITE

NOV

Here’s a sneak peak of our latest project, the ever so gentle refurbishment of a beautiful detached period seaside dwelling in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

The works involve the careful and partial reconfiguration of the existing internal layouts to both the ground and first floor to allow for improved and flexible living areas, upgraded bedroom and bathroom areas and for a greater connection between all parts of the house and the surrounding gardens.

Keep an eye on our news feed for further progress updates.
