The complete refurbishment & restoration of a 1907 three storey neo Elizabethan house is well underway and due for completion this summer.
Designed by Richard Orpen, brother of Irish artist William Orpen, in the Arts and Crafts tradition for the Crookshank family and situated on grounds owned by the Yeats family, the house featured in Jeremy Williams ‘Architecture in Ireland 1837-1921’.
The brief was to carefully restore the house to its original condition whilst providing a comfortable home for our clients. The works are designed to enhance and highlight the qualities of the building with the protection of the historic fabric and character integral to our design approach.
All non original 20th Century modifications & additions were removed and minor alterations carried out to the ground, first and second floor internal layouts to provide for improved living areas and to allow for a greater connection between all three floors and between the house and the garden whilst still preserving the integrity of the existing structure, its strong period character and decoration.
Floor Area of House: 453 M2
