The brief was to improve the existing layout, the connection to the front & rear gardens and provide an additional floor of accommodation.

The existing ground floor plan was altered to provide two distinct and separate bedroom & living areas. The open plan living areas open out to external terraces in the garden to the South & East.

The additional floor is clad in timber and designed as a two storey insert into the existing ground floor and is held back from the existing parapet lines so as not to dominate or take away from the original house.

The new insert opening out to the South provides a double height roof lit atrium in the centre of the house providing a connection between old and new.
